Avoid last-minute stress with these key questions
Holidays are a time for travel, family, and celebrations—but for pet owners, they also bring one big question:
“Who will look after my dog while I’m away?”
As a pet sitter with over 30 years of experience here in Gateshead, I know how important it is to choose care that’s calm, reliable, and routine-based. Whether you’re booking for Christmas, Easter, or a summer break, here’s what you should ask before confirming your pet sitter.
1. How Many Dogs Do You Care for at Once?
You want your dog to feel safe—not overwhelmed.
At Chrysidis Pet Care: I care for only a few dogs at a time, in my home, for calm, one-on-one attention.
2. Where Will My Dog Sleep and Relax?
Avoid sitters who keep dogs crated or in loud, crowded spaces.
Here: Your dog stays in a real home—on soft bedding, with freedom to move, rest, and settle naturally.
3. Will You Follow My Dog’s Routine?
Routine keeps your dog calm. Make sure your sitter will feed, walk, and medicate at the right times.
I always follow each dog’s exact schedule, and I welcome notes and comfort items from home.
4. Can I Book a Trial Day First?
A short visit helps your dog adjust and gives you peace of mind.
Trial visits are available at Chrysidis Pet Care to help nervous dogs settle in.
5. How Far in Advance Should I Book?
Holidays fill up fast—especially Christmas, Easter, and school breaks. Book at least 4–6 weeks ahead to secure a space.
