Plan ahead to guarantee your dog’s spot—especially during peak seasons
If you’re planning a holiday, weekend trip, or time away, it’s smart to ask:
“When should I book pet boarding in Gateshead?”
At Chrysidis Pet Care, I provide calm, home-based overnight care—but since I only care for a few dogs at a time, spaces fill quickly. Here’s what you need to know about the best times to book (and why early is better).
When Does Pet Boarding Book Up Fast?
1. School Holidays & Half-Terms
Families travel more during school breaks. If you’re planning a holiday during Easter, summer, or Christmas, book your dog’s stay at least 4–6 weeks in advance.
2. Bank Holidays & Long Weekends
Even short stays can fill up fast around May Day, Spring Bank Holiday, and August bank holidays.
3. Summer Months (June–August)
This is peak travel season—and also a popular time for kennels and home boarders to be fully booked. Some book months in advance.
4. Christmas & New Year
It’s one of the busiest times of year. Dogs need a warm, comfortable place to stay—and many owners book holiday stays in October or earlier.
